There are up to 84 team slots available this year. We do not have to use all ofthem. If we cut back, we cut back in groups of 4. So 80 or 76, etc.

Special Announcement: EC has decided to continue to accept applications from teams throughJune with the understanding that we can only accept new entries intothe tournament in groups of four. All will be added to the waiting listand as we get to the next "magic" number, we will admit additionalteams. If you think you missed deadlines, we can still get you in. Ifyou know of others who think they have missed deadlines, we can workpast that too. This is not a standard practice. This is a function ofthe EC voting earlier in the year to expand the tournament to 84 teams. This is not likely to be the case next year. No reason to expand thefield if we don't fill it this year.

2008 Cross Training Camp Cancelled
Saturday, 31 May 2008

Greetings, Slam Family.

We are sad to announce that the 2008 Poetry Cross Training Conference in SUNY Onoenta has been suspended for this year.  As with all things effecting the US Economy, we have been affected negatively by the change within the economy.

As much as we would love to have this event this year, we have to carry out what is fiscally responsible for the organization and our membership.

We would like to thank our amazing group of organizers, Michael Salinger, Robb Thibeault and Steve Marsh; our wonderful faculty for 2008: Alix Olsen, Ray McNiece, Rachel McKibbens, Scott Woods, and Regie Gibson and our ever faithful staff member, Eirik Ott.

Fear not. While we are down about this major shift in what has quickly become one of our favorite events to hold, we are not out completely.  When the economy stabilizes, the Cross Training Conference will return in 2009.

Thank you to those who have attempted to sign up for the conference this year and your patience while we work on bringing you an even better event in 2009.

Welcome EC Class of 2008
Monday, 19 May 2008

As we successfully complete another Spring SlamMaster Conference, we do a little shifting and changing of arms as well.  If you didn't know, every Spring, SlamMasters from all over the globe that are registered with PSi congregate on some poor unsuspecting (and sometimes suspecting) city and we wreak havoc for an entire weekend while we hammer out policies, rules and other ugly things that make each year's NPS, iWPS and WOWps all the more fun and/or agonizing (it's all about perspective folks :-P).  Anyway...

During that time, we also elect our new class of Executive Council members.  These voted volunteers help run the administrative aspect of Poetry Slam, Inc. (such as helping determine where money gets spent, fundraising, you know...the "dirty" dirty work).  This year's EC class of 2008 has been elected and with this election, we say goodbye to some of our most valued members as well as welcome some fresh blood and welcome back some of our vets.

So we bid a sad, but loving farewell to Rachel McKibbens (SlamMistress for NYC - Bar 13, Louder Arts) and Don McIver (SlamMaster for Albuquerque, NM). We wish you both well and much success and we will be harassing you occasionally for guidance, and the pure hell of it.

Now...please welcome our newest members of the Executive Council...
